The Alpinestars Tech 1-KX V3 Kart Boots, SKU 271-2124, are FIA 8877-2022 certified karting boots designed for competitive drivers who need current-standard homologation and the performance characteristics of a properly engineered karting shoe. At £156, they sit in the mid-range of the Alpinestars karting boot lineup, above the non-FIA Tech 1-K Start V2 and below the top-tier Supertech K.
The design retains the elements that established the KX range as a reference point in karting footwear: a slim profile that keeps the boot out of contact with the chassis, a thin flexible sole that transmits pedal feedback directly rather than filtering it through a cushioned midsole, and an asymmetric lace-and-strap closure that allows independent tensioning across the instep and ankle. The V3 brings these into compliance with FIA 8877-2022, which required updated fire-resistant materials in the lining and sole construction alongside the structural changes to the upper.
Perforated panels on the outer ankle and tongue allow air movement without reducing protection at the toe and heel. The reinforced heel counter provides ankle support through cornering without adding the ankle height that would restrict pedal control at the brake and throttle. The boot runs from UK 6/EU 39 through UK 12/EU 47 in six colour options including black/white/yellow, black/silver/orange, and white/green/red.
For drivers in championships that do not yet mandate FIA 8877-2022 but want FIA certification, these are the current correct choice.
